About Our Co-Founder Julie Graham

FRESH Medicine Health and Wellness Teacher Julie Graham

Julie Graham is a certified teacher of Integrative Nutrition, Positive Psychology, yoga, meditation and aromatherapy. For over 25 years, Julie has been at the forefront of health and wellness.

Julie is the Co-Founder of FRESH Medicine and Founder of FRESH Med U. Along with her husband, Dr. Robert Graham, Julie has created and facilitated several integrative health and wellness programs for individuals and companies including, yoga, meditation, Positive Psychology, aromatherapy, culinary medicine cooking classes and more.

Julie began her career as a weight loss counselor for two large corporations and later worked as a Corporate Trainer for Dr. Atkins. She realized different “diets” worked for different people, and this inspired her to become a Certified Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). There, she learned over 100 dietary theories from nutrition specialists including, Drs. Andrew Weil, Deepak Chopra, Walter Willett and Mark Hyman, just to name a few. Julie follows the mantra, “Let food be thy medicine….”

In 2000, Julie began her own yoga practice and has been on her mat ever since. In 2005, she became a 200-hour yoga teacher and subsequently an advanced 300-Hour teacher. She has developed multiple yoga and meditation programs for students, non-profits, large corporations, like Northwell Health, NBC, and Telemundo, and currently teaches at yoga studios and for private clients in NYC.

After witnessing the power of the Relaxation Response, Julie completed course-work in Mind/Body Medicine and Meditation from Dr. Herbert Benson, the Harvard physician who discovered the Relaxation Response: the opposite of the stress response. Using simple breathing techniques, Julie learned how to cultivate more mindfulness into her daily life and helps her clients do the same.

In 2014, The Graham’s had a vision for bringing “hospitality” to the hospital setting. They conceptualized and brought to life, “Victory Greens,” the first-ever NYC urban rooftop farm at Lenox Hill Hospital. The “Lenox Chill” initiative was also “born” at Lenox Hill—yoga and meditation classes specifically designed for burnt-out hospital workers. A “culinary medicine” program was also “on the menu” where resident doctors learned how to cook Meatless Monday dishes at the Natural Gourmet Institute.

Positive Psychology is the scientific study of human flourishing. Julie has a BA in Psychology, and in 2014 she received her Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology. Julie helps people figure out and focus on their strengths for long-lasting change. She created “Positively Psyched: The ABC’s of Positive Psychology.” From “Awe-Zest,” Julie helps her clients get more “positively psyched” about life—one letter at a time.

Julie has been using essential oils for years and wanted to learn more about their profound healing properties. She earned a certification from the New York Institute of Aromatherapy where she studied the holistic science and healing art of essential oils. Using these powerful plant-based, herbal remedies, Julie creates custom blends in the form of massage oils, salts, inhalers and sprays for stress-related conditions, hormonal imbalances and for physical ailments like respiratory issues or aches and pains.

In 2016, the Graham’s decided to combine forces and created their own FRESH approach to health: FRESH Medicine. FRESH Med, is an integrative approach to health focuses on the “FRESH 5”: Food, Relaxation, Exercise, Sleep and Happiness. FRESH is a simple acronym and recipe, or Rx, for ultimate health and happiness.

In 2019, Julie created FRESH Med U (FMU), an online school that offers individuals and corporations the “FRESH 5 recipe to health.” FMU is the ultimate self-care model that puts people in control of their health. FMU offers comprehensive wellness programs about the “art & science” of the “FRESH 5” to strengthen physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. FMU allows users to learn in their own space—at their own pace. FMU has gamified learning, is fun and easy to use, and is designed to help people set “FRESH Goals” to help prevent illness, reverse chronic conditions and optimize good health.

Julie weaves together the fields of Integrative nutrition, Yoga philosophy, Meditation, Positive Psychology and Aromatherapy into one easy and concise FRESH program and tailors it to meet her clients' individual needs. She offers a more holistic approach to support the whole person: body, mind and spirit. Stay FRESH!
